Description: A fascinating early season hike. We’ll get a chance to visit the Drumheller Badlands with rock formations, cactus, fossil beds and early spring flowers.

• Don`t forget the usual items; bear spray, proper clothing, water, food, equipment and first aid kit.
• Trip participants are asked to provide their cell contact information and emergency contact
information to the trip coordinator, prior to, due to the 'meet at trail head' requirement.
• Please do not sign up if you are experiencing any flu like, cold, or Covid19 symptoms.

Elevation Gain: 47 Meters / 154 Feet
Maximum Elevation Gain: 208 Meters / 682 Feet
Travel Distance: 112 Kilometers One Way / 1 Hour and 45 Minutes
Difficulty Level: Moderate
Not much elevation gain, but there are two 1.5 meter embankments that will have to be descended hand-over-hand, . Please wear long pants for the low brush and check yourself for ticks afterwards. Much of the trail is open, however. The undulating nature of the terrain will provide good exercise.
Rendezvous Point: North Edworthy Park. Please arrive 15 minutes before so carpooling arrangements can be made, as we will be leaving at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Look for the grey Toyota Camry,
Drivers note: The county of Kneehill will be charging a parking fee of $2.00 per vehicle, at the Horseshoe Canyon parking lot

Please Note: A minimum of 4 members are required for the event to go ahead as scheduled.
Safety Precautions: It is tick season. Check yourself for ticks. Also, snakes, both the poisonous Prairie Rattlesnake, and the non-poisonous Bull Snake, are present in Horseshoe Canyon. Please watch where you step, and avoid placing hands or feet in animal holes.
Policy Pets: Pets will not be allowed.
