Mount Shark Skate and Classic Skiing

About this event

Mount Shark 1

Mount Shark Skate and Classic Skiing.

We'll start off on skate skis on the training grid while we wait a few extra minutes for any latecomers to arrive.Skate to Watridge Lake, optionally descend to the bridge over the Spray River. Ski back to the biathlon loops, ski those. The terrain is mostly easy to moderate, but on skate skis we expect to maintain a minimum average speed of 8 km/hr. If you can classic that pace, that works too.

Break for lunch at the parking lot. Switch to Classic skis.

Classic ski  around the lower loops, (Virgo, Hercules, Pegasus, Ursa Major etc) until we've had enough. The terrain is mostly intermediate to advanced. Expect to maintain an average pace of 6 km/hr.

This trip is not suitable for beginners. You should be able to classic with a full weight transfer,   step turn or parallel skid on the downhills, OR have a high level of fitness. A questionnaire is encountered on registration, to help you consider if this is the right trip for you. We may do up to 25 km of trail skiing, but it is very easy and quick to return to the parking lot at any time.
