Cycle from Bow Bottom to Chestermere Lake - Postponed!

Postponed by Event Host - to be rescheduled

Description
:  This is a more challenging bike trip, due to its distance  We get to travel past both natural and artificial ponds on the way there, for a pretty trip through some nice neighborhoods, then out on the open prairie along the banks of the irrigation canal. The lake is a beautiful place for a summer visit - we'll be right at the beach..

Cycling Distance:
                   Approximately 56 Kilometers Return

Elevation Gain:                47 Meters / 154 Feet

Difficulty Level:                   Long, but mostly very flat, with one short steep hill.

Start Time:               9:00 am

Starting Point:  Burnsmead parking, Fish Creek Provincial Park

Starting Point Location:
Travel south on Bow Bottom trail.  Almost immediately after passing the end of the Deer Run District, turn left onto 153 Ave SE.  Travel about 500 meters.  Burnsmead is the second right turn - the first is the access to the sewage treatment plant - presumably you don't want to go there.

Mid-Point:  Chestermere Lake

Type of Terrain:  95% bike path.  There are a few short interruptions along the route and it will be necessary to ride a few kilometers on a residential street in the City of Chestermere.

Hazards:
Please be careful both climbing and descending the hill from the Bow River up to the Mackenzie district.  It is quite narrow and winding.  Persons with vertigo should not look down when we ride over Deerfoot Trail.

Bike Equipment:
Your bike should have a bell to warn pedestrians and other traffic.  Also please consider getting a  headlight if you do not already have one. It is also good practice to have a spare inner tube and an air  pump.
