Eden Valley Hike & Indigenous Learning

Eden Valley Reserve 1

DATE CHANGE TO FRIDAY AUGUST 12, 2022 If you wish to build a personal connection with our Indigenous neighbors as they generously guide and host us on their reserve lands, this is your opportunity to experience a memorable day-trip hike, (possible swim) and meaningful learning experience on the Eden Valley Indian Reserve.

Description:

This is the second visit by ski club members to the Eden Valley Indian Reserve.

Eden Valley 216 is an Indian Reserve of the Stoney Nakoda First Nation, comprising of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Wesley First Nations, located near Longview, Alberta.

Guided by Elder Keith Lefthand and other Band Members, we will complete a 5 kilometer hike as well as spend considerable time at Keith’s Ranch where he will host us in his hand-crafted tipi sharing stores of indigenous ways-of-life in past and present times.

Keith’s wife will prepare us a tasty meal featuring her homemade frybread and, if we are lucky and the weather is hot, we ill have the refreshing treat of a dip in the swimming hole behind Keith’s house.  This is a memorable day not be missed!

Registration is open. Unfortunately, the ski club is unwilling to subsidize this event so attendees will need to pay the full $125 event fee per adult. Children are free - please email me directly at cindy@strategyhouse.ca for details.  Note: You must be at least double vaccinated and free of COVID symptoms to attend.
