Bathroom and Washing Facilities

Wild Coast have 'privies or pit toilets' at most locations where we will camp, but in other sites, they have squat... so to speak.

Here is some information from Donna, who has made many kayaking trips;

I regard sea kayaking as a cross between backpacking and car camping. Your backpack is the kayak itself and car camping because you can pack some luxuries like beer and canned food. However, one luxury that will be left behind is washrooms. At a few of the sites, very likely,

the throne may be a pile of rocks or a log to hang over. In the

absence of such structures, it is not uncommon that we may need to pick a spot below tideline, dig a pit in the sand, and do what the fish do. Washing is another experience. Don't bother bringing regular soap.

It doesn't work in seawater. The only soap you will need is either Sea Soap or Camp Suds. Suitable for everything from washing your hair and the dishes. A dip in the ocean will be your bath if the weather is good! We should also be heading to a freshwater lake where this soap

will work too. Best of all, it is biodegradable (a must in this fragile ecosystem) and is available for purchase at your favourite outdoor store (even Canadian Tire!)
