Details Event Name: Hike Cat Creek Hills (Highwood Junction Area) Event Coordinator: Bob Wilson Trail Distance: 9.5 km return Elevation Gain: 410 metres Event Difficulty Level: moderate overall but with some steep sections Possible hazards: Some dead tree branches, a few logs to hop over, bears active in the area Driving Distance: 230 km return Description: This rewarding hike ends with outstanding views on a hill covered in flowers! Below one can see the Highwood River Valley, and to one side, the intriguing Junction Hill summit. We also get to pass an old coal mine. A hiking pole is recommended for use on the steeper sections, for those with knee issues. Event Trailhead: Cat Creek Parking Lot, approx 7 km north of Highwood Junction on Highway 40
