Registrations open December 20 at 8:00 a.m.
If snow permits, we will string together 15 to 20 kilometers using the Ribbon Creek Ski Trails. Otherwise, we will continue to Peter Lougheed Park for a similar ski outing. This is a difficult ski but as this will be a round trip, skiers must be able to ski an average of 6 kilometers an hour to sign up for this outing.
Please be aware if there is inclement weather forecasted the day of the event, it may be rescheduled and / or cancelled.
• Carpooling: Use are your own discretion and what you are comfortable with.
• Please make yourself aware of the risks in participating in this sort of event and decide accordingly.
• Gear: Proper winter Nordic skiing clothing (a few thin layers, a warmer jacket for longer breaks, plus spare toque, gloves/mitts), water, food/snacks, Nordic skiing gear.
• Trip participants are asked to provide their cell contact information and emergency contact
information to the trip coordinator, prior to, due to the 'meet at trail head' requirement.
• Please do not sign up if you are experiencing any flu like, cold, or Covid19 symptoms.
Event color rating: Black (Difficult)
• Distance: 15-20 kms, 4 hours of continuous skiing, including short 5-min breaks every hour or so
• Pace: 6 km an hour
• Trailhead: Kananaskis Village
• Elevation Gain: 200 meters
• Driving distance to trailhead: 90 km one way (1 hour approx.) x 2 = 180 kms
• Carpooling Departure Time: Meet at 7:45 a.m. leave by 8:00 a.m. sharp
• Carpooling Fees: $37 per vehicle, divided among all vehicle occupants
Rendezvous Point: North Edworthy Park, northeast corner. Please arrive 15, 7:45 a.m., minutes as we will be departing at 8:00 a.m. sharp.
