Cycle the Legacy Trail from Canmore to Banff and Return

About this event

Description:

The entire trail is collectively referred to as the Rocky Mountain Legacy Trail – a distance of 26 kilometers one-way, round trip 52 kilometers, with a 30-meter elevation gain and an estimated timeline of 4 to 6 hours round trip for cyclists to completed.

It is a scenic three-meter-wide, commuter trail connecting the small mountain town communities of Canmore and Banff. The route runs parallel to the highway and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. This is a great trail for families and cyclists of all abilities to enjoy.

There is also the possible of cycling the Banff Golf Course Loop as well.  The Golf Course Loop is a wonderful ride by itself or in addition to a longer ride closer to town. Approximately 5 kilometers in length. The loop begins by descending from the Banff Springs Hotel or from the Town of Banff to Bow Falls. This is a great place for a picture and to start the ride on the loop. The ride passes the many holes on the spectacular Banff Springs Hotel 18-hole golf course, with a great view of number 4 the “The Devil’s Cauldron,” the signature hole on the course. Very few cars, new pavement with the views of the golf course and the Bow River make this short ride a must do on any town ride in Banff. The elevation profile is basically flat, with just one short climb from Bow Falls back towards the town of Banff or the Banff Springs Hotel.

We will stop in Banff for lunch prior to are return trip to Canmore.
