Trip Distance: 31 Kilometers Return / 4 to 5 Hours
Elevation Gain: 167 Meters / Mid-Point is highest point, so return is downhill and fun!
Mid-Point: Wonderful Nose Hill Park. There is a nice grove of trees with picnic table to have lunch.
Difficulty Level: A continuous climb but only steep in one section (Home Road of course!) We are allotting 5 hours, but it can be completed in as little as 3 hours.
Rendezvous Point: North Edworthy Park, northeast corner, or as space is available.
Event Coordinator: For inquiries, please contact the event coordinator Bob at (403) 228-9057, (403) 808-8470 or by email wilson72@telus.net. On the day of the event, call or text me at (403) 808-8470 if your plans have changed.
Type of Terrain: Mostly bike path, however, of the total 31 Kilometers, there are 3 Kilometers on the little-used residential streets of 3rd and 2nd Streets N.W. These streets will have the occasional vehicle, but they are designed with several barricades that prevent through traffic. There are designed City bike routes.
Hazards: Watch out for the light poles projecting into the pathway just west of Crowchild Trail. We may also choose to dismount and walk the short section on 40th Avenue N.W.
Bike Equipment: Your bike should have a bell to warn pedestrians and other traffic. Also, please consider getting a headlight if you do not already have one. It is also good practice to have a spare tire and an air pump.
Guest Policy: The Club is currently discouraging guests of a member attending an event at this time due to the pandemic situation and potential liability issues. Once the government has lifted and has relaxed restrictions, guests are more than welcome to attend two events, as per the Calgary Ski Club Policy prior to Covid-19.
