Wildlife Monitoring Project Update
Happy Trails for Happy Tails

The BCT Wildlife Monitoring Project continues to gain momentum, thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of our volunteer community. Following a volunteer callout earlier this year, over 60 community members have stepped forward to support this exciting long-term initiative.

Over the past few months, training and certification for project crew leaders has been in full swing, with a focus on meeting  COR safety standards including radio operations and field safety protocols. More training opportunities will roll out soon for both crew leads and general volunteers to build capacity and strengthen field knowledge.

So far our trained volunteer team leads have successfully installed 18 wildlife cameras across West Bragg Creek, working toward the goal of 55 total cameras throughout the area. These cameras will help gather valuable insight into wildlife presence, movement, and habitat use.

Volunteers are playing a hands on role in every step of the process from installations to battery and memory card swaps, and from image processing to data analysis. While comprehensive findings and recommendations are expected in late 2026, we’re already capturing some amazing wildlife moments.
