Cross Country Ski Lessons

We have something for everyone ages 4 and up, beginner to intermediate. Cross country skiing is a sport that the whole family can enjoy.  All ages and abilities can take part, so get out, learn a new sport and enjoy the winter. Cross country skiing is one of the most cost-effective winter sports – there are no expensive lift tickets!  Modest trail fees may apply at some locations.

Note: Costs for our cross country ski lessons programs do not include Calgary Ski Club Membership, trail passes, or adults' ski equipment rentals (we have equipment for children's Jackrabbit programs).

Jackrabbit registration opens late summer for 2019-2020 programs.

Jackrabbit Program, ages 4 to 12 learn to ski program

The club offers cross country lesson programs for children ages 4 to 12, following the national Jackrabbit (JR) program. This program is recreation focused and is not competitive. Participants will be divided into groups based on age and ability. This is an excellent way to introduce your child to cross country skiing.

The Club provides loaner equipment for the Jackrabbit program subject to size & availability.

CSC reserves the right to alter the schedule depending on registration levels, weather, and availability of coaches. The coaches will cancel or reschedule the lesson(s) if the temperature is colder than –18 degrees Celsius (with wind chill) for the Jackrabbit programs.

Volunteer commitment
The Jackrabbit program is volunteer run.  Help is needed with lessons, equipment and social media and other areas.  The Head Coach will discuss volunteer opportunities with you. You may work an extra fundraising shift to fulfill the  commitment if there are no volunteer opportunities.

Fundraising commitment
While there is a small fee for lessons, the majority of the cost of the program is covered by funds raised at an AGLC casino and the Club's annual New and Used Ski Sale.  Parents will be asked to complete one shift (4 hours) per child at our annual New and Used Ski Sale in late October.  Additional shifts would be much appreciated and earn points that may be used to pay for programs.  Parents unable to volunteer at the Ski sale will have an opportunity to work at our AGLC Casino but the date of our next casino has not been set.

Many of our coaches are parents just like you.  We will arrange and pay for training.  Interested? Contact our Head Coach

Adult Registration will open in the fall for 2019-2020 winter.

Adult Programs

Level 1 - Beginner: A beginner has little to no cross country ski experience.

Level 2 - Novice:
